Leagues of Friends thanked for hospital support

THE support given by local leagues of friends to East Sussex Hospital's NHS Trust has been recognised as part of the NHS 60th anniversary celebrations.

They each received an engraved commemorative plaque from Trust Chairman Irene Dibben.

Trust chairmanIrene Dibben said: "Always supporting the NHS since its inception in 1948 are the leagues of friends who have worked tirelessly in the background to raise funds for patients and staff as well.

"They are unsung heroes of the NHS.

"In this 60th year of the NHS I would like to pay tribute, on behalf of the Trust, to the work of the friends of the Bexhill, Conquest and Eastbourne hospitals and to mark this special anniversary by presenting them with a commemorative plaque."

Secretary Margaret Williams accepted the award on behalf of the Friends of the Conquest Hospital. Chairman Ann Caffyn accepted the award on behalf of The Friends of the Eastbourne Hospitals and John Barnes accepted the award on behalf of League of Friends of Bexhill Hospital.
