Learning the lessons of first Panoramic

PANORAMIC, the three-night De La Warr Pavilion sound, light and architecture festival lost £48,328 - equivalent to £96 for each of the 1,255 people attending.

On Monday Rother's district services committee will be invited to use its scrutiny role in assessing whether lessons can be learned from the jazz-orientated event and a broader-based festival staged next August Bank Holiday.

Rother leader Cllr Graham Gubby has not only been a strong advocate of Panoramic but of the new scrutiny committees using their powers to examine such issues in detail.

He said: "I am looking forward to a robust and challenging scrutiny of this event."

"I have every confidence that the scrutiny committee will find that, on balance, we did the right thing.
