Legion open day

VISITORS had the chance to get to see the workings of the Little Common Royal British Legion Club with an open day held on Sunday.

Guests were invited to take a look at the headquarters in Meads Avenue, sample the carvery, take part in raffles and enjoy music in the evening.

They could also find out more about the many activities legion members take part in.

Committee member Bob Moore said: "It is a very successful club but we still get lots of enquiries asking what it is all about.

"Everyone thinks it is for old soldiers but it's not '“ it is for children and dependents as well.

"As a village club want to be a part of the village as much as possible and that was the idea behind having the open day today.

"Any money we make goes back into the club.

"Every day here there is something going on. It could be bingo one night, line dancing or yoga '¦"
