Lewes and Blois to celebrate twinning milestone this summer

Half-a-century of twinning between Lewes and Blois in France will be celebrated this summer.

In 1963 the Twinning Charter was signed, officially recognising links between the county town and its French counterpart.

To mark the 50th anniversary a number of events will be staged in Blois over the weekend of June 21-23.

The German town of Waldshut-Tiengen – with which Lewes is also twinned – will be sending a large contingent as it too marks 50 years of twinning with Blois.

Lewes Twinning Association would like to invite any organisation or individual, who has past or present links with the twin towns, to join them in travelling to France.

Members will go by coach on June 20, returning on June 24.

People can make their own travel and accommodation arrangements but the Association would be grateful of notification, so it can provide approximate visitor numbers.
