Lewes chamber elects a new President

Lewes Chamber of Commerce welcomed a new president to the helm at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, April 13 at Pelham House.

At the AGM, David Clark, of W.E.Clark and Son and chamber president for the past four years, announced his intention not to put himself forward for the position. He said: “Last year has been an exciting year for the Lewes Chamber of Commerce and one I have fully enjoyed in what is my final year as president.

“Having been involved with the Lewes Chamber for many more years than this in other capacities, it has been a very rewarding experience.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the Chamber Executive Committee and all of the businesses and organisations within Lewes. For the time being, I will certainly still be involved within the Lewes Chamber Executive Committee.

“Change in leadership is a positive thing and I will be very excited to see a new president with new ideas taking the Lewes Chamber of Commerce further forward.”

Clare Crouch of hrscreative, having been vice-president for the past year, was elected to the position of president for the coming year. Clare said: “It is a great honour to be elected president of Lewes Chamber of Commerce. The past year as vice-president has been a very enjoyable year for me.

“It’s been great meeting so many new people through the networking and business events and learning so much more about Lewes, the people and the businesses that make it what it is.

“David has set a high benchmark over the past four years and I look forward to following in his footsteps.

“I am delighted David has decided to remain active within the Chamber and I relish working with him and the rest of the Lewes Chamber Executive Committee. It is a privilege to be given the opportunity.”
