Lewes District poll results

Results are all in from yesterday's Lewes District Council elections.

Lewes voters kept faith with the LibDems and the district's sole independent councillor secured a huge mandate.

Today (Friday) the ruling Liberal Democrats won six of the seven Lewes ward seats.

Independent councillor Ruth O'Keeffe retained her Priory ward seat with an impressive 2,064 votes - 800 more than district council leader Ann De Vecchi.

The Greens failed to secure a single seat in the town, or across the district, but polled reasonably well forcing the Conservatives into third place or worse in all three Lewes Wards.

However, the Tories gained seven seats across the district but failed to make an impact in Lewes.

Counts were held at the leisure centres at Lewes and Seaford.
