A Lewes-based firm which distributes some of the finest Italian ingredients to ice-cream makers across the UK has scooped a national award.
HB Ingredients won the Supply House trophy for its Hazelnut Gelato in the 2016 National Ice Cream Competition run by The Ice Cream Alliance – the trade body for the UK’s £1billion ice-cream industry.
Delighted account manager Grant Dalgleish said it was the company’s first trophy after entering the awards for the past three years, and the accolade was the culmination of a very busy and successful week for HB Ingredients at the ICA Expo event in Harrogate.
“It’s fantastic, absolutely brilliant,” Mr Dalgleish said. “You could say it’s the icing on the ice cream.”
Mr Dalgleish said his firm were the UK Distributors for JoyGelato, an Italian manufacturer of gelato ingredients such as flavours, bases and hazelnut paste.
“JoyGelato makes 100 per cent hazelnut paste,” he said. “They’re one of very few companies to roast their own hazelnuts.
“We distribute JoyGelato’s ingredients to ice-cream parlours, manufacturers and retailers across the country.”
