Lewes Freegle celebrates its third birthday

LEWES Freegle is celebrating its third birthday. Launched in September 2009 as part of a national network, it is an online group with 3,500 members, enabling people to give and get things freely and locally.

It kept at least 3,500kg out of landfill and incinerators in the last 31 days – the same as 90 sofas.

Freegle is a massive grass roots movement that is leading environmentally positive individual action across the UK. There are more than 350 independent local groups with more than a million members.

It is easy to join Lewes Freegle if you have computer access and an email address. The homepage, with links on how to join, is at http://freegle.in/Lewes

Freegle fosters community spirit, lessens consumerism, assists the economically challenged and reduces the burden on landfill.
