A group of six residents attended a free one-hour information session at Lewes Town Hall run by dementia friends champion Cllr Esther Watts. Cllr Watts as part of the dementia friendly Lewes initiative.

After attending the session, Cllr Watts said: “I signed up to be a dementia friends champion because I am passionate about helping people to live well with dementia. A dementia diagnosis should not mean the end of normal life. I am proud to be part of a growing network of people helping to create dementia friendly communities across England.”

The session was also attended by Cllr Tony Rowell. He said: “I was so pleased to see people showing their support for people with dementia, by coming along to the Session and becoming Dementia Friends. We need to create more communities and businesses that are dementia friendly so that people affected by dementia feel understood and included.”

The next session will be held on Monday, September 19 at 12pm.
