The Liane Carroll Trio will perform at the gala opening of the very first 1066 Wine & Food Festival at St Mary-in-the-Castle on the evening of Midsummer Solstice, Sunday June 21.
Award-winning Hastings based Liane will release her latest album Seaside this year.
She has agreed to play to help emphasise 1066 Country’s culture of good wine and food with a special focus on quality local produce from 1066 country. St Mary’s will have a bar on the night with interesting wines available.
The festival will run until the following weekend. During the week, restaurants, wine producers and merchants taking part around Bexhill, Hastings & St Leonards, Battle, Rye and Camber will hold special wine-themed events.
Participants will offer discounts and promotions to holders of special festival cards, which will give free admission to the opening event and includes three months membership of the Hastings Card – giving further discounts and offers in shops, cafes attractions and more.
On June 27/28 there will be tutored tastings in the Classroom on the Coast, hosted by locally-based Essential Wine School with a 20 per cent discount for festival card holders.
Next door in the Stade Hall a wine market will offer a wide range to taste and buy with the emphasis on quality local vineyards and again discounts to festival card holders.
A guide and programme with wine tasting guidance, maps and a free to enter competition with prizes will be available free from all participants, the Tourist Information Centre and elsewhere, as will the festival cards – available to over 18s only and priced at just £5.
