LIB DEM TAKES COUNCIL SEAT

Liberal Democrat Sarah Hall has won a seat on Uckfield Town Council following a by-election last week.

The mother-of-three, who lives at Jeffreys Way, on the Manor Park Estate, won by nine votes with 155 cast for her and 146 cast for Independent Mike Ziolek of Mallard Drive, on the Harlands Estate. Fifteen per cent of the electorate turned out.

Mrs Hall, who has two grown up daughters and a son aged 13, has lived in Uckfield for 23 years and has taught at UCTC for ten years.

She has actively supported the college's Spiritus organisation and its association with the Uckfield Festival, is a member of the Campaign to Protect Rural England and a specialist in sugar craft and confectionery having used these skills to train students for the Duke of Edinburgh Skills Award. She is also a trainer and assessor for basic food hygiene certification and has assisted with HM Forces families liaison within the town.
