Life through lens at Littlehampton Museum

FROM the concrete, skyscraper jungle of New York, to the green fields of Swaledale in north Yorkshire, criss-crossed by stone walls and dotted by ancient barns, there are photos to appeal to all tastes in a new exhibition at the Littlehampton Museum.

Littlehampton and District Camera Club has returned to the community gallery for its popular annual exhibition of members’ photographs.

All featured in the top three places of the various club competitions during its 2011-12 season, a testimony to the talent in the friendly, yet successful group.

A total of 50 photographs are on view during the first half of the exhibition, and some will be replaced with a further 22 for the remainder of its run, which continued until Saturday, November 3.

Landscapes nearer home include views of Littlehampton and Arundel Castle, and wildlife subjects are also in the frame, including seabirds and elephants, not to mention close-ups of flowers such as poppies and orchids.

Many of the photographs were taken by club members on their travels to various parts of the world, and can now be enjoyed by visitors to the exhibition right on their doorstep.

Anyone interested in joining the club, which is now meeting up again after its summer break, can find out more about its activities at the exhibition.

“This is a beautiful selection of photographs,” said councillor Alan Gammon, chairman of Littlehampton Town Council’s community resources committee. “I always enjoy seeing what the camera club produces each year.”
