Lifeboat Open event is great success

An Open Wekend event held by Rye Harbour Lifeboat earlier this month raised £875 for RNLI funds.

There was an opportunity to see rescue demonstrations on the river throughout the weekend.

This year the new Shannon class all weather lifeboat from Dungeness RNLI Lifeboat station attending the event, giving visitors the opportunity to have a look around the newest RNLI Lifeboat in the fleet.

For the first time, the event was attended by the Ambulance Service, Rother Responders and Rye Fire Brigade. Visitors got the opportunity to have a look around the appliances and equipment and talk to the personnel. There was also the opportunity to see first aid demonstrations.

Richard Tollett, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Rye Harbour RNLI Lifeboat Stations said: “This year’s event was an outstanding success.

“I would like to thank the Ambulance Service, Rother First Responders, Rye Fire Brigade and Dungeness RNLI Lifeboat Station for helping to make the event the great success it was. It was a wonderful opportunity for the visitors to meet 4 of the emergency services”.
