Lights out on Shoreham's roads

ROAD users and pedestrians have been warned to take extra care because of faults with highway lighting.

Lights at the roundabout at the Adur flyover at Shoreham are currently not working, along with another set at the Beeding Court roundabout on the A283 at Upper Beeding.

A spokesman for West Sussex County Council said: "We do have a fault at the flyover roundabout and we are working with Inter-Route, which maintains the A27 trunk road for the Highways Agency, to get this re-cabled.

"We have split responsibility for the lights and so we are taking the opportunity to separate the cable systems between the two authorities.

"We do have another fault at Beeding Court Roundabout, affecting nine lights, and have repairs for this programmed for the new year."

Inconvenience

Cabling problems have also caused street lights to fail in Horsham Road, Steyning.

The council spokesman said: "Approximately 10 lights leading to the school and leisure centre are affected.

"We are currently working with our contractors towards finding a temporary solution to bring them back into operation and we are meeting this week to look at options.

"A permanent solution to the problem will be put in place in the new year.

"In the meantime, we would apologise to residents for the inconvenience and are doing all we can to rectify the problem."
