Apologies: There was an error in my notice last week about the concert with the Haywards Heath Concert Brass. The date for this is SATURDAY 3rd December from 1.30-4pm in the King Edward Hall. Free entry. This is a charity Xmas event with proceeds going to Chestnut Tree House Children's Hospice.

Haywards Heath Ceramics Group: The monthly meeting is on Thursday 8th December at 10.35am in the Small Hall at Clair Hall, Haywards Heath. Alice Bleuzen will talk on “Porcelain and Enamel Snuffboxes.” Alice gained a Masters Degree in History of Art at the Sorbonne in Paris. She joined Sotheby’s in 2007 and is responsible for sales of objects of vertu in Paris and London. Doors open at 9.45am with coffee served till 10.20am. Non members are very welcome with prior arrangement with the membership secretary(01444 483372 or 414477). Tickets £8.

Lindfield Festival Night: A reminder that this is on Tuesday 6th December in the High Street. Festivities begin at about 6pm and finish at 9pm. Father Christmas will be in the United Reformed Church. The High Street will be closed to traffic from 5.30-9.30pm.

Lantern Festival at Wakehurst Place: The majority of the lanterns have been made by schoolchildren including those with special educational needs. The UK’s tallest living Xmas tree will be festooned with lights. Hot chocolate and mulled wine will be served. The Visitor Centre shop will be open for “Glow Wild.” Dates are: Fridays to Sundays 2nd-4th, 9th-11th, 16th-18th December. Time slots at: 4pm, 5pm, 6.30pm and 7.30pm. Christmas Fayre: Friday 2nd December at Wivelsfield Village Hall from 2.30-4.30pm. Lots of stalls and a raffle. Raising funds for Action Medical Research for children. Free entry. Please support.

Journey of the Magi: Presented by Springs Dance company at Great Walstead School on Saturday 10th December at 7.30pm. This show which is an inspirational evening of dance, music and theatre has been the Company’s most popular performance to date. Inspired by the poem by T.S.Eliot the performance helps audiences to reflect not only on the famous journey the wise men made following the star to Jesus but also the journey each of us makes every year in preparing for Xmas Day. The show is an ingenious mix of dance and theatre enjoyed by children and adults alike. A mix of laugh-out-loud funny, moving and entertaining scenes explore images in the poem to bring the Xmas story to life. The show not only entertains but also provokes consideration for change.
