The school and charity based at Dunsfold Park, near Cranleigh, provides special education facilities and life skills training for children with autism spectrum disorders. The money was donated by the Guildford Lions Club after a Lions charity ball.

President of the club Trevor Perry said: “It is always a pleasure to raise funds for such a deserving charity providing support for families, and doing such good work with the children and preparing them for life.”

Kate Grant, chief executive officer of the Jigsaw CABAS School, said: “We feel very fortunate to be chosen as the benefitting charity from this fundraising ball. The event was hugely enjoyable and the money raised on the night far exceeded our expectations.

“£17,500 will go a long way to helping us purchase IT equipment for the school, specifically i-Pads which will help pupils with their communication and learning.

“On behalf of everybody at Jigsaw, I would like to thank the Guildford Lions Club for putting on this event for us and for the incredible support we have received from them over the past ten years.”

The main event of the evening was a charity auction hosted by Mark Stacey, the well-known television antiques expert. Auctioned items included an original painting by children from the charity, a surprise antique donated by Mark Stacey, and a fabulous trip to Venice.
