Julia Chapman, from the Lions, said: “We are a very small Club, with only 11 members at present.

“We are individuals who volunteer our time to help causes both locally and global to provide help in times of disaster. Every pound raised by Lions Clubs goes directly to charity and are sent out to Lions where funds are needed.

“The complete cost of administering our association, at all levels, is covered by members subscriptions, we are not allowed to deduct any percentage of the money raised from public functions for our administrative needs. It all goes to Charity.

“Battle and Villages Lions Club meets once a month, in the evening at The Royal Oak, Whatlington. Membership is open to those who are prepared to devote some of their spare time to community service.
