Guests were welcomed with a sherry or fruit juice before enjoying a lunch of roast beef, followed by apple crumble.

After the lunch they were entertained by local group Ro’s Gang and enjoyed singing along to a selection of World War One songs.

A free raffle then followed with lots of prizes and one lucky lady winning a giant Easter egg.

Rye Lions President Sue Clay thanked all those involved and made special mention of ‘Chief Cook’ Chris Emson and her helpers who had spent the afternoon in a very hot kitchen.

Sue then thanked the Seniors Citizens for attending and invited them to return next year.

Rye Lions are only able to provide such a lunch due to the generosity of local people at their various fund raising events. Anyone wishing to join the Lions or learn more about them should ring 01797 252382.
