‘Listen to the people’

Developers and landowners have been given a clear message: “Withdraw your application and listen to the people”.

And they were told a ‘gigantic’ ‘monster’ roundabout the size of more than half a football pitch at the junction of two rural roads would be like something that had ‘dropped from outer space’.

The assertions were made as opponents battled to stop another new housing estate in Mid Sussex.

Around 300 people packed the Warden Park assembly hall to applaud as Haywards Heath Town Council rejected the proposal by Borde Hill Estate.

Cllr Jonathan Ash-Edwards asked the estate to withdraw its application asserting: “We need to take back control of these decisions on behalf of the community”.
