Listening lunch at Sidley

A listening lunch was held at Sidley primary school to give pupils the chance to meet members of Sussex Police.

Chief Inspector Heather Keating, WPC Sarah Ellis, who is Neighbourhood Schools Officer, and PCSO Andy Smith visited in what was the first of many listening lunches in local schools.

Head teacher Julie Reece said: "What they are doing is trying to raise their profile within schools so that children see them as friends of the community and people who can be accessed when they need help.

"I think the opportunity of coming in just before the Easter holiday is a good time particularly as children will be out and about during their free time. I think it is so that children will see the police as part of the community rather than someone they interact with when something goes wrong.

"This is something I have been looking to raise for a long time."
