Little Common School's farewell

LITTLE Common School has given a unique farewell on Monday to two teachers who have given long and distinguished service.

The bulk of Sue Fabien's 38 year teaching career has been spent at Little Common School.

Headteacher David Pratt said: "She has worked most of the time with what are now called Foundation Stage pupils - four and five year-olds - and she has always been an outstanding practitioner.

"She is well known in the school because she is a lovely singer and often has a guitar with her. She sings with her class and that has been a lovely feature.

"Jean Blatchly was a textile teacher at Bexhill High in the past and transferred to teach in primary when she came to Little common 22 years ago.

"She has been teaching in Year 2 all those years.

"Her big contribution to school life has been information technology, where she has been a lead practitioner in the school and helped support many of the teachers.

"We all gathered on the field for a farewell picnic and the school choir sang for them and the maypole dancers performed.

"The teachers walked around the whole of the school and they were greeted by children who had been in their class before and every class and year group had made a farewell card for them and presented them, to them while we were eating our picnic."
