Twelve-year-old Larissa scooped first place in the competition organised by the Storrington and Pulborough branch of the Rotary Club.

She beat off competition from six other 12-year-old students from the college. The youngsters produced their own choice of a two-course meal within 90 minutes using ingredients costing no more than £10.

Competitors had to design their own menu, cost their ingredients and prepare a time plan.

The students’ performance and results were judged by professional chefs Jim Charlesworth and Omero Gallucci. All the competitors - including runner-up Millie Clough-Young - received certificates from Rotary president Mike Barker.

The other competitors were Ellie Thomas, Amber Cheng, Amy Scott, Jack Lovett and Nathaniel Lawson.
