Littlehampton Brownies’ evening antics helps children less fortunate

POPCORN, pillow fights and plenty of cheeky midnight antics helped support needy children overseas.

Members of the 1st Littlehampton Brownies took part in a sleep-over to help promote children’s charity UNICEF, on Saturday (June 30).

Seventeen Brownies, alongside a Guide and Young Leader from the area, snuggled into their sleeping bags at the Littlehampton Girlguiding Centre, in Duke Street, as part of the organisation’s international giant sleep-over evening.

The event saw countless youngsters from across the globe – Littlehampton included – camping out in tents, school halls and fields.

Girls in Littlehampton tucked into a midnight feast and even had their own movie screening before the lights went out.

Julie Sampson, assistant guider for 1st Littlehampton Brownies, said: “The children had a great time. I was not convinced we would be having much sleep but all the activity, fun and excitement wore them out. We are thrilled to have been part of The Giant Sleep-over.”

The girls donated about £100 to take part in the evening.

All the proceeds will be going directly to UNICEF to be used to buy insecticide-treated mosquito nets for impoverished families overseas.
