Littlehampton couple complete 100km trek

BLISTERS and fatigue certainly couldn’t stop a determined couple from Littlehampton completing a 100 kilometre, non-stop trek for charity.

Natasha Disney, 32, and her partner Andrew Sutton, 33, pushed their bodies to breaking point during a 60-mile walk from London to Brighton.

They completed the gruelling route in just over 29 hours after setting out on Saturday, and had to struggle against both exhaustion and “horrendous” walking conditions.

Mum-of-one Natasha, of Linden Road, said: “I have never been in so much pain in all my life. My legs and feet are both swollen and I’m aching all over.

“The route itself was like an obstacle course, with muddy, ankle-deep bogs that would just suck the energy out of you. It was ridiculously painful.”

Natasha, who works at the Oakland Grange Care Home, in St Flora’s Road, explained that her main driving force was the memory of her much-loved aunt and grandfather, who had both died from cancer.

With about £250 raised for Cancer Research UK so far, Natasha said: “The walk was difficult, but losing them both was one of the most devastating things I had ever been through.

“Every 12 kilometres I would stop, take out their photos and remember just why I was doing it.”

Andrew, who raised about £170 for Macmillan Cancer Support, said that more help was still needed to reach the couple’s combined target of £700. Anyone who would like to help can text either the code NDIS66 or SUTT55 to 70070, with the amount of the donation.
