Littlehampton dance group excels at competitions

A DANCE group from Littlehampton is celebrating after a winning a number of trophies at two recent competitions.

Dance Industry, which is based in Sparks Court, Littlehampton, once again proved successful across a range of dancing disciplines and age groups at this year’s Chichester and Godalming Dance festivals.

The group walked away with more than 35 first place finishes in ballet, tap, modern and musical theatre.

The youngest participant, Tamsin Bell, aged four, won the classical ballet cup and the club’s senior classical and modern groups won their trophies with an ‘outstanding’ 90 marks.

Cleo Badcock, aged 12, also had a very successful festival.

He won three trophies and is currently rehearsing with Sadlers Wells London Children’s Ballet for the group’s upcoming production of Nanny McPhee which will be performed in The Peacock Theatre in London next month.

Principal Muriel Bordenave said she was ‘delighted’ with her pupils and the hard work and discipline they had put into their training.

She said: “With hard work, discipline and good training the children can achieve amazing results.

“We should be very proud of the talent in our area and I’m looking forward to celebrating our 30th anniversary next year.”

Dance Industry has also just announced details of its upcoming bi-annual show.

The show ‘In Step’ will be performed at The Alexandra Theatre in Bognor Regis from June 20 to 21.

It will feature a range of ballet, tap, modern dance, musical theatre and singing and will feature children as young as three up to adult age.

The whole school will be involved in the show, with more than 200 pupils taking part.

The group has also announced the dates for its summer school, which will feature special guest teachers.

The summer school will be held from July 28 to August 1.

The Chichester and Godalming festivals were held last month.

Dance Industry is open to children as young as two and a half and takes people up to adult age.
