Littlehampton fire tragedy update

Police and fire investigators are still at the scene of yesterday’s fire which killed an elderly woman in Littlehampton.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called to a house in Harwood Road at 12.09pm on Saturday to reports of a fire with persons inside the property.

It has been confirmed an elderly woman died during the blaze.

The road has now been opened but officers are still at the house trying to discover what caused the fire.

Although the woman’s family has been informed of her death, police are not likely to release her name until at least Monday.
