Littlehampton food bank benefits from donations by students

Pupils at the Angmering School, in Station Road, were asked to give tinned food and Christmas items like crackers. Hannah Knox, a geography teacher, organised the collection at the school and delivered 13 boxes full of tins and Christmas items to the Littlehampton Baptist Church where the food bank is based.

Hannah said: “At this time of year, when there is a focus on receiving presents, it has been really positive to focus on those people in our community who are in need, and to encourage students to be more aware of those for whom this time of year is an emotional and financial struggle. Students from all year groups in the school have been bringing in donations of food and festive goods for the Littlehampton Food Bank over the last week. It has been a fantastic effort and I am really proud of the numbers of students involved in both collecting and sorting the donations.”

Carol Boreham one of the leaders of Littlehampton Baptist Church said “When the Littlehampton Larder, run by Homelink, closed at the end of October, we felt we as a church should pick up the running of this service that was already distributing food from our building in Fitzalan Road.”

The Littlehampton food bank is open on Tuesday and Friday afternoons from 1pm to 3pm.
