Littlehampton Food Bank thrilled with new lock-up

On Monday (May 19), the food bank’s co-ordinator, Hazel Cooper, was given the keys to a free lock-up at Titan Storage, at the Riverside industrial estate, in Littlehampton.

The new facility will house even more food and supplies for the bank, based at the Littlehampton Baptist Church, in Fitzalan Road.

Hazel said: “We are thrilled and very grateful. We are just blown away by their generosity.”

Hazel explained that Titan Storage would now act as an extra drop-off point for people donating food and supplies.

She said: “I am just part-time, so the time for people to donate is limited.

“With demand growing, I feel we will need more supplies to support the demand. Titan Storage will really help us to cope with this extra need.”

Janice Browning, branch manager of Titan Storage, said she was inspired to help following the Gazette’s article about the charity last week.

She said: “We love to help out local charities in whatever way we can.

“I really think that the food bank is going to take off and they just won’t have enough space to store all the food at their current site.”

She added: “I think the food bank is a really good idea because there are lots of people struggling financially right now.”

Those wishing to donate food can now deliver it to Titan Storage, from 8.30am-6pm, Monday to Friday, 9am-3pm on Saturday and 10am-2pm on Sunday.

Hazel is appealing for people to donate shelving for the new storage room.
