Police are investigating the raid, which took place at the Cuff Miller garage in Horsham Road, shortly before 7.30pm.

It comes after a similar attack on the site, on March 16, where a similar robber made off with £400 prompting safety fears from locals.

Speaking to the Gazette today, a police source said the force ‘was not ruling out the possibility that the crimes were both linked’.

Speaking of the latest raid, Sussex Police said: “Shortly before 7.30pm a woman cashier was confronted by a man with a knife, wearing a grey woollen hoody and dark grey jeans, and with a scarf covering his face.

“He threatened the cashier and demanded cash before running off. He spoke with what sounded like an East European accent and is thought to have taken around £200. No one was hurt.”

The suspect is described as white, 6ft, and very skinny.

He was wearing a hoody, dark grey jeans and spectacles. He was carrying a Lidl-brand bag, police added.
