Littlehampton launches war against dog poo ‘menace’

A campaign has been launched to beat rising levels of litter and dog poo in Littlehampton's streets

Littlehampton Neighbourhood Watch (LNW) has teamed up with the Safer Arun Partnership to promote a cleaner town.

The campaign will target dog fouling and litter, with LNW members underlining their cleaner message to businesses and residents.

Arun District Council and West Sussex County Council are supporting the effort, which will see posters placed on lampposts around Littlehampton, as well as dog scoops and Stubbi cigarette pouches being made available at special events and at the Civic Centre, in Maltravers Road, Littlehampton.

Mike Cullern, chairman of the LNW, said dog fouling and street litter was ‘a major issue’ for the organisation and one the group was keen to focus on.

Councillor Paul Dendle, Arun cabinet member for environmental services, said: “Dog fouling is an absolute menace and owners who fail to clear up dog mess need to be aware of the penalties. We are pleased to partner Neighbourhood Watch in this community-led campaign to help encourage clean streets and more attractive public open spaces.”
