Littlehampton Learning Shop to re-open

THE LITTLEHAMPTON Learning Shop is to re-open, leaving one less empty unit in the town centre.

The High Street shop closed its doors in November 2007, as it did not comply with disability discrimination legislation, but is now undergoing a major refurbishment to bring it up to spec, and is planning to become a charity.

Head of adult and community learning for West Sussex County Council, Ros Parker, said: "We're delighted to be moving back into Littlehampton town centre, especially in the current climate when a lot of shops are closing rather than opening.

"Reopening the shop forms part of the proposed move for the service to work as a social enterprise, with the aim of improving adult learning quality and choice for residents."

She added that the shop, which aims to open its doors in late summer after a 10 week refurbishment, would offer ICT, languages, maths and English courses, as well as employability and work skills.
