Littlehampton lifeboat rescues stricken sailor

LITTLEHAMPTON’S lifeboat crew rescued a lone sailor after his 7m yacht lost power.

They were called to the vessel, which was five miles south of the harbour entrance, at about 7pm on Saturday (April 2).

Speaking on behalf of the station, Emma White said: “With a low but turning tide the crew had to tow the casualty vessel to the harbour entrance and wait until there was enough water to cross the bar.”

The boat was moored at town quay by 8.30pm.
