Littlehampton man who tried to break up fight was beaten unconscious

A GOOD Samaritan was knocked unconscious when he tried to break up a fight near a club in Littlehampton last night (Sunday, May 17).

The assault happened in High Street, close to the Coco Lounge, at about 2am.

The 21-year-old man was repeatedly punched and kicked during the assault and knocked to the ground.

He was knocked unconscious and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Detective Constable Lee Simmonds said: “We know there was a number of people in the area when this happened and we are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

“It was fortunate that the victim wasn’t seriously injured as this was a nasty assault.”

A man aged 18 from Littlehampton, was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

A 21-year-old Bognor man was arrested on suspicion of assault while a woman aged 38 from Littlehampton was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

They were all released on bail until July 15.
