Littlehampton mayor Emma dances for joy at fund-raiser

THIRD time’s the charm. At least that’s what Littlehampton’s mayor Emma Neno said following another exhaustive fund-raiser.

Emma, who will soon be handing over her chain of office, took part in her third “Zumbathon” on Saturday (April 13), alongside around 40 other people, raising more than £800 for her chosen two charities, Cancerwise and Home-Start Arun.

The mum-of-two admitted the volume of charity work during her time as mayor had not only improved her charity kitty but her fitness, too.

“I felt a lot better this time,” she said. “I wasn’t feeling anywhere near as tired or exhausted as before and I wasn’t watching the clock as much as I was in the previous two Zumbathons.”

Emma and the band of charity dancers were all dressed in bright neon outfits during the two-hour routine, with Zumba instructor Sally Dobson, at the Southfields Jubilee Centre, in Southfields Road, Littlehampton.

And it looks like there could be an added boost with Barclay’s Bank already pledging to match the total raised, meaning Emma’s final dance marathon would raise in excess of £1,600 – topping the £20,000 marker, four weeks before her end of term.

Emma is hosting a family fun day, at Mewsbrook Park, on Saturday (April 20) from 10am-4pm.
