Littlehampton patients need to re-book after vaccine shortage

A local delivery problem combined with a national vaccine shortage has created a “logistical nightmare” for a doctors’ surgery.

Park Surgery, in St Flora’s Road, Littlehampton, is asking all patients with appointments for a flu jab in October to re-book.

Robyn Clark, practise manager, said: “We ordered 1,800 vaccines from a pharmaceutical company 10 months ago. On the week of delivery they informed us they had a problem with two batches and would not be delivering our order they wanted to run tests on the whole lot.

“We had booked all our flu clinics for early October, and it’s a logistical nightmare to change.

“Now there is a national shortage of the vaccine, but we have managed to obtain some to start vaccinating our chronically-ill and immuno-suppressed.

“We would like our patients with an appointment booked in October to contact us to re-book for a date in November when we hope to be able to hold our clinics.”
