Littlehampton stolen dive gear ‘dangerous’ in wrong hands

DIVING gear stolen from a boat moored at Littlehampton Marina could prove lethal if used incorrectly, police have warned.

Thieves stole a seven-litre aluminium gas cylinder, containing Nitrox gas, and attached to a Poseidon Cyklon regulator.

“There is some concern that, should anyone attempt to use this regulator for diving without sufficient experience, the Nitrox could severely harm their health,” a police spokesman said today (Friday, October 29, 2010).

The theft was discovered on Monday, but could have taken place any time between then and the beginning of this month. Other items were taken during the break-in.

Anyone with information about the crime, or who may have been offered the stolen items for sale, should contact Sussex Police, telephone 0845 60 70 999.
