Littlehampton store guard hurt in shoplifter challenge

A SECURITY guard was injured when he challenged a suspected shoplifter as she drove away from a Littlehampton supermarket on Tuesday night (April 16).

Just after 7pm, the guard approached a 44-year-old woman from Angmering as she left the Tesco superstore at Broad Piece, Littlehampton.

Police say the woman abandoned her shopping trolley and went to drive off, causing the security guard to fall

and sustain an injury to his knee.

The woman was arrested for shoplifting and has been bailed until April 26 for further enquiries by police.
