Littlehampton traders urges to join Christmas festival

THE sleigh bells and chimes for this year’s festive season are already beginning to ring out in Littlehampton – well, almost.

As Christmas draws ever closer, Littlehampton Town Council, along with the town’s traders’ partnership, is hoping to bring an extra touch of Yuletide magic to the High Street, in December.

An appeal has been launched urging shopkeepers and businesses to stay open a little later, in a bid to encourage more trade in the run-up to the winter celebration.

The idea is that, from the Christmas lights switch-on event, on the last day in November, all the way through to Christmas Eve, there would be a series of late night shopping dates and regular entertainment in the town centre.

The council is hoping traders will open their doors to musicians, theatre groups and dance troupes keen to entertain shoppers during evening hours.

All those willing to take part in the festivities will be featured in a special “what’s on” guide produced by the council. The booklet would also highlight concerts, Christmas fairs and fetes, organised by community groups in the town, completely free of charge.

All those wishing to take part can do so but must send their applications in by Friday, next week. To join in with the initiative, call 01903 732063 or e-mail, [email protected]
