Littlehampton’s top citizens praised for good deeds

The outstanding contributions by the Arun Youth Aqua Centre (AYAC) and the Littlehampton Civic Society were praised at the town’s merit awards.

The two groups each picked up an award for their work helping to make the town a better place.

Guides supporter, Margaret Baker was presented with the individual achievement award.

She was recognised for her years of dedicated service to the Guides and all her efforts fundraising for the Littlehampton and Arundel District Guides’ headquarters in Duke Street.

As well as her work with the movement, Mrs Baker has also supported St James Church as a Sunday school teacher and has been a staunch member of the Scout Fellowship.

Jan and Roger Elliman, of the AYAC, were also praised for their work with young sailors, when collecting the club’s group award, at Manor House.

Likewise, the civic society’s work to improve the town, and representing residents’ views on things like the neighbourhood plan, community charter and flood action group, were also celebrated.

Littlehampton Town Council hosted the awards.
