Newhaven Fort will host a Living History Weekend on Saturday July 26 and Sunday July 27 where the historic site will be brought to life with displays and demonstrations.

Living history groups will include the Croix de Guerre (French Military 1913-1940) and Tommy 14/18 with a display of equipment typically issued to British soldiers in the trenches during the First World War.

There will also be a chance to try on uniforms and handle artefacts from the Napoleonic, Victorian and WW1 eras courtesy of local historical events company Hands on History.

In addition there will be a collection of vintage military bicycles belonging to the Fort’s own Ed Tyhurst and visit a WW1 recruitment station.

The Fort’s permanent exhibits and audio visual presentations will be open as usual, along with the Searchlight Café, Guard Room Gift Shop and under 12’s outdoor playground.
