Local charity Trustholds volunteer day

The Sara Lee Trust is holding a special event where people can find out more about volunteering at its donations centre and local charity shops.

The Volunteering Open Day takes place at the Trust’s Bexhill Donation Centre on Wednesday October 21 from 10am– 12pm.

The centre is based at Unit 10, Wainwright Rd, Beeching Rd Industrial Estate, behind Bexhill Police Station.

Maria Gonat, from the Sara Lee Trust, said: “Please come along to have a cup of tea and find out more about how you may be able to help.”

The Trust aims to improve the lives and well-being of people living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses in the Hastings and Rother area through the provision, free of charge, of creative and complementary therapies, psychological and counselling support, and therapeutic group activities.

Maria said: We are committed to making our service accessible to all in an area where deprivation, early death and health inequalities are significantly worse than the national average. “

The Trust’s charity shop in Cambridge Road, Hastings, recently underwent a make-over and improvement.

The Shop is now bursting at the seams with a full range of ladies clothing, accessories, handbags and shoes, at affordable prices. Students can receive a 10 % discount on all purchases on production of a valid student card.

Trust retail manager Emma Dell said: “We are also looking to recruit enthusiastic volunteers to join our friendly team. Do you like meeting new people? Are you a bookworm? Do you have a flair for creative displays; Love fashion and clothes? Or just make a great cup of tea If so, we would love to hear from you. Please pop into the Cambridge Road shop for an informal chat and meet Tracey our supervisor or alternatively call 01424 422 442

The Donation Centre is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am – 1pm, welcoming donations of saleable items including clothing and accessories, toys and games, DVDs and CDs, linen, electrical and household items, pictures and jewellery.
