Local girls moonwalk for charity

A group of local gals took part in the Playtex Moonwalk in aid of breast cancer research and support.

Samantha Wilson, Bridget Leary, Vanessa Johnson and Sue Norman walked the 26.2 mile London marathon course joined by Karen Walker and Karen Stenton who walked the 13.1 mile half marathon between midnight and around 9am the following morning.

They are all staff or parents at Vinehall School in Robertsbridge.

Karen Stenton said: "The ladies all donned specially decorated bras and braved a chilly wind to participate in the moonlit march along with another 17,000 women.

"Many months of training along Bexhill and Eastbourne seafronts paid off as the plucky ladies completed the course, tired but elated and without so much as a blister."

Sue Norman from Battle added: "We are delighted that between the six of us we have managed to raise almost 3000 for this worthy cause, it was a fantastic experience."
