Local graduate will live the non-profit dream

A LITTLE Common graduate with dreams of making a difference in the non-profit sector has been plucked from thousands to complete an internship with the charity of her choice.

Sarah Marshall, 22, who finished her sociology degree at Sheffield University last year, will be sponsored by Vodafone for two months as she works with Mencap around East Sussex and London.

She said: "I'm really lucky to have got it. I think what they are trying to do by running this scheme is show people how accessible volunteering is and to encourage people to give a bit of their time to help."

Volunteering experience at Sheffield helped Sarah, who helps at the Gateway Club on Station Road, win one of 500 places on the World of Difference programme.

She said: "Disability is something people know very little about. I find it very interesting working with the people at Mencap, and am interested in changing public opinion."
