Local hospice will benefit from ride

TWO friends from Rose Green hit the heights through their love of cycling.

Angie Hopper and Morag Bouterse took part in this year’s Maratona in the Dolomite mountains in Italy.

They have signed up for the 35-mile version of the annual ride which attracts some 9,000 cyclists.

Angie, 44, of Lincoln Avenue, said: “I’ve been cycling with Morag for two months and we’ve really caught the cycling bug.

“We belong to a group called the Biking Belles and we found out some of them were taking part in the Maratona and were lucky enough to get some places.

“We’ve been training around places like Goodwood and Charlton whenever we had a spare minute for about six weeks.”

Angie is an NHS healthcare support worker and Morag, 45, of Gossamer Lane, is a colonic therapist.

The friends are using their experience to help St Wilfrid’s Hospice.
