Local insurers make final donation to charity of the year

BEXHILL-based insurers Hastings Direct made a final donation of £4,100 to its charity of the year - the Sussex Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (SASBAH).

Staff at the local insurance group - the largest employers in Bexhill - voted to support SASBAH for a year, which then increased to 18 months.

They have provided 30,000 of support for the charity, which includes providing training and practical support to its staff and service users.

Rom Sanglaji, general manager at SASBAH expressed his thanks on behalf of the charity for all the support they have received:

"It has been a fantastic year working with Hastings Direct. We have enjoyed the interaction with all the staff that has made all the events really special. The money raised has been spent on residential holidays, equipment for disabled people, Christmas and summer parties and to support the ongoing costs of our vital services."

Hastings Direct staff raised the much needed funds in a myriad of ways including hosting a summer fte, running marathons, quiz nights, dress down days, and even washed staff's cars.

Edward Fitzmaurice, CEO of Hastings Direct said: "We are delighted to have been able to help in any way to support such a worthwhile local charity. SASBAH makes a real difference in the lives of many local families and we wish them every continued success with their work and fundraising."
