Long service awards for hotel staff

THIRTY members of staff with 225 years of service between them have received long service awards in the first ceremony of its kind at Ashdown Park Hotel.

THIRTY members of staff with 225 years of service between them have received long service awards in the first ceremony of its kind at Ashdown Park Hotel.

Managing director Graeme Bateman presented the awards to staff and managerial colleagues at the commemorative lunch, which was held at the country house hotel at Wych Cross. Mr Bateman himself has been with the group since 1981.

The long service presentation will now become an annual event. Accountant Angie Weston, estate manager Kevin Sweet and cellar/store manager Trevor Newham all received Crystal Awards to mark 20 years of service.

Breakfast/fairway supervisor Jenny Sandells and kitchen porter Sue Stringer received Silver Awards for 10 years of service, while among the staff receiving Bronze Awards, for a minimum of five years' service, were executive head chef John McManus and head concierge Rodd Atkinson.
