Looking For Oldfriendz?

EAST Preston businessman John Whitehouse has launched an internet reunion site with a difference.

He and his partner, Phil Parker, are hoping to help thousands of people track down contacts from the past from many different walks of life with their new internet site Oldfriendz.com.

The idea for the site came about while John's wife Paula was trying to get in touch with an old friend from her nursing days.

She was trawling a well-known school-based website but came up against a brick wall as she had no idea where her friend went to school.

"Being a bit of a designer, I thought, 'I could do better than that'," said John.

And so, John went to work and Oldfriendz was born.

He wanted to provide a comprehensive search site, enabling people to find people they had met at any stage of their lives including school days, work and the armed forces.

"Our system is much more people orientated so when you do a search you are given details of the person rather than the school they went to or the company they worked for.

"With some sites, if you don't know the school somebody went to or what regiment they were in you aren't going to be able to track them down.

"It also enables people to search by their maiden names or any other facility," explained John.

The site is currently receiving 4,000 hits a day, including visitors from Australia, America and Canada.

It is flexible enough to cover foreign schools and schools no longer in existence and offers options such as Who's Who? and a Make New Friends facility.

You can visit John's new website at www.oldfriendz.com.
