Lord Tebbitt set to come to town

One of the best-known British politicans of recent decades is heading for Bognor Regis.

Lord Tebbitt will be the next guest speaker at the town's RAFA branch.

Tickets for the August 20 event, doors open at 7.30pm, are on sale from the branch in Waterloo Square. They are priced 5 each and can be bought only in advance.

Lord Tebbitt will be talking about his life and career, including his times as an RAF and civilian airline pilot.

But it is as a key member of Margaret Thatcher's governments from 1979 as employment and trade and industry secretaries that he is best remembered.

His uncompromising views saw him either praised or pilloried. TV programme Spitting Image infamously portrayed him as a sinister leather-clad bovverboy.
