Love a gull, urges RSPCA

THERE was a chance to find out more about the work carried out by the RSPCA at Mallydams Wood on Saturday when it held its annual Open Day.

The Fairlight-based centre cares for everything from injured seagulls to sick seals.

It was the ubiquitous gull that was centre stage this year with the centre adopting Love A Gull as the theme for the Open Day.

An interactive Gull Trail helped visitors learn more about our sea-side neighbours and there was even a Gull Cuddling Corner.

Other exciting attractions included visits by The Ridge Fire Station and the Animal Rescue Unit from Crowborough Fire Station. Sussex Police brought along a vehicle and various displays, including information on wildlife crime.

There were also stalls, displays, refreshments and barbecue and a raffle draw.
