Lucy and lettings firm nominated for awards

A LETTINGS agent hopes its ethos of ‘letting homes not houses’ and an ‘inspirational’ managing director will win them a handful of Adur and Worthing Business Awards.

Lawton and Dawe, based in Shoreham, and Lucy Dawe, have been nominated for five awards – ‘small business’, ‘outstanding contribution in the community’, ‘young achiever’, ‘business personality’ and ‘customer service’.

Established in 2010, the firm has built up a strong reputation, and relocated to a new and larger
office to accommodate a growing team.

Setting-up in the midst of the recession, it provides a ‘bespoke’ customer service for both its landlords and tenants.

In nominating the company, Jill Woolf, who has worked closely with Lucy in a business capacity, said: “Lawton and Dawe work hard to ensure consistency and quality across the board for landlords and tenants.

“This includes superb, bespoke customer service, as well as homes in which people want to live.

“Its ethos is ‘letting homes not houses’, and the business never loses sight of this.”

A keen interest in employing young people has also resulted in the firm taking on its first apprentice.

The company also takes part in a number of charity efforts, with Lucy embarking on a climb of Mount Kilimanjaro in September.

The company has been involved raising money for Worthing Churches Homeless Projects, Shoreham Fort, and the Cancer Research Race for Life.

Jill said: “Lucy is an inspirational young woman.

“Not only has she started up and maintained a successful letting agency in this tough economic climate, she spends almost every spare moment working for her chosen charities.

“Her climb to Mount Kilimanjaro in September, in aid of Worthing Churches Homeless Projects and Spinal Research, is a prime example of challenging herself for the benefit of others.”

She added: “She is extremely well regarded by all her clients and tenants, as well as her team and business networking colleagues. Anything Lucy sets her mind to achieve, she does.”
